Michael Troy Brown

My artistic journey has evolved from creating whimsical, character-inspiredshoes – works that once served as my canvas and hinted at the beginningsof my fascination with the gothic and the macabre – to producing mixed-media sculptural works built from repurposed expanded polystyrene withupcycled and found objects. These reclaimed forms become the foundationfor bizarre, surreal, and often unsettling characters that inhabit myimagination. By transforming discarded materials into expressive works ofart, I explore themes of beauty, decay, fantasy, and horror, giving my newpalette a second life through a unique form of sculpture.

My work is deeply influenced by the storytellers and visionaries who haveshaped the horror genre. The imaginative worlds of Ryan Murphy, ShirleyJackson, William Peter Blatty, Tim Burton, and John Logan have inspiredmy approach to character creation, where psychological tension, gothicatmosphere, and the surreal converge. Like these artists, I am drawn to theextraordinary, the uncanny, and the beautifully strange. My characters areborn with personalities and narratives that invite viewers into worlds wherehorror, fantasy, and imagination exist in equal measure.
