Paul Blumenthal

Paul Blumenthal, an artist and architect based in Helena, Montana, combines his architectural training with a deep passion for drawing and painting. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University. His travels through Mexico, Italy, India, Greece, Spain, Israel, Montana, and Wyoming have deeply influenced his artistic vision.

Blumenthal’s work spans a variety of media, including pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, gouache, oil, and collage. His recent paintings explore abstract expressionism, and in 2024, he began creating word-based pieces that use paint to communicate without direct reference to the natural world. His goal is to communicate through his art, reinforcing messages and forging deep emotional connections.

After retiring from a 27-year civil service career, Blumenthal now devotes himself fully to art, drawing and painting every day.

His work has been featured in exhibitions such as The Language of Landscape at the Montana Jewish Project and in juried shows like those at the Coos Art Museum in Oregon. He continues to teach and inspire others, with a particular focus on guiding young artists in their creative journeys.
